Loudoun Castle (Theme Park)

Abandoned water ride
Located in Galston, East Ayrshire, Loundoun Castle opened in 1995 and was based around the ruins of the 19th century Castle of the same name. The theme park was opened by a London based company (travelling showman Raymond Codona).

The park was brought by its current owner Henk Bembom's Parkway LTD in 2002, and in their first year of ownership they invested £5million, with an extra £2million the following year, this investment included new rides and attractions. By 2007 they had another £2million of investment. In the winter of 2006, Parkway moved all operations ride stock to Loundoun from their Margate storage buildings.
The park had been doing well for many years, but it had a fatal accident. On 15th July 2007, a 18 year old ride operator, Mark Blackwood, fell 80ft from a rollercoaster of which he was pushing as the ride had got stuck. He was rushed to hospital for treatment but unfortunately he passed away the next day. This fatal incident would affect the company for years, due to a trial not clearing them of failing ti provide proper training and supervision until 10th October 2009. And just 11 months later (September 2011), it was announced that the park would be closing. This was due to it no longer being "economically viable" and it was left unclear of what the owners wanted to do with the park, and in the same year numerous rides went up for sale.

Statues left broken/rotting
It has been announced that the park will reopen again, with an announcement in 2014 that reconstruction will start in 2016 - hoping to open in 2018. But this hasn't happened, and its fate is now in the hands of the local government.
