Music Faves - SWMRS (Formerly Emily's Army)

SWMRS are a four piece punk rock band, who formed in California in 2004. The band originated as a three piece consisting of Cole Becker and his brother Max and Joey Armstrong - Seb Mueller joined a few years later.

Many songs had been released on MySpace, and even though they were not on an album or officially an album, many of the songs have appeared throughout their career so far. They also released a string of EP's form 2008-2010 under the name Emily's Army, their first album was also released under this name, the album was called Don't Be A Dick and was released 14th June 2011, with their second album, Lost At Seventeen coming out 11th June 2013. Both of these albums were produced by Joey's dad, Billie Joe Armstrong (of Green Day). Don't Be A Dick was also the first album that Billie had ever produced.

They have had numerous different names, including; The Raining Souls and The Clocks, but these were dropped after realising there was other bands with the same name. They decided on Emily's Army after Max and Coles cousin Emily, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, and their aim was to raise money and create awareness for the cause. It was in September 2014 when they decided on the name Swimmers, but it wouldn't be till the following year that they spell the way they do now.

The song Miley was released September 7th and Uncool was released the following day.
Their third album, the first under the name SWMRS Drive North would be released February 12th, 2016 and it was also their first album not to be produced by Billie Joe. This album was also released through their own indie label - Uncool Records. Two singles have come from this album so far, Miley and Figuring It Out.
